House Concert: Japanese Folk Songs, Haiku & Community
Join us for a special afternoon of music, poetry, and creativity in the welcoming setting at Michelle and Art Dewey's beautiful home. Local musicians Ben Wheeler and Gwen Vernon will share a collection of beautiful Japanese folk songs, exploring the inspiring connections between music, art, and nature.
As part of this unique experience, guests will also enjoy traditional Japanese artwork accompanying selected songs. Inspired by the music and the art, everyone will be invited to try their hand at writing simple haiku poems—capturing a moment, an image, or a feeling in just a few words.
No writing or musical experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and enjoy an afternoon of listening, reflecting, and creating together. This intimate house concert is a wonderful opportunity to connect with friends, discover something new, and celebrate the beauty of art in the community.
Space is limited, so please RSVP to reserve your spot. House concert location and directions will be provided upon registration.
Potluck lunch begins at 12:30 p.m., with music starting at 1:30 p.m. Please bring a dish to share—Japanese-inspired food would be a fun addition, but anything is welcome!
